Soundproofing

The sun is setting on a very tranquil and restorative week on the east coast of Zanzibar, as tomorrow I will make my way back west to Stone Town. The Bwejuu and Paje beaches have been very enjoyable to walk up and down.

We don’t realise how grateful we should be for soundproofing and walls not made of reeds. As I bedded down for my final night in Bwejuu, I was listening to my neighbours change their clothes. I could hear the crumple of every garment and the epiglottis of every person. I look forward to concrete walls from tomorrow onwards.
