Lathyrus Odoratus

Cordyceps

A cold bleak day in the Marches was enlivened by finding a Cordyceps militaris (Scarlet Caterpillar Club). I've only seen this a handful of times before and its unusual to find it in the winter. The curious thing about it is that the spores parasitise moth pupae under the soil before the fruiting body appears.
