Near and far away..
Another bright and cheerful day. After all the grey skies and rain, it was nice to be blue again this morning. Today's conker tree blip is of the far away variety.
Today at work didn't quite go as I planned. Earlier this week I had syncronised all the invoice data for 2024 and this January from one system to another one. Today I noticed that rather a lot of the data was stuck in a queue waiting to go. I foolishly unlocked the queue and my data went where it should have done, but alas so did a lot of other data that had been stuck - in some cases up to 12 months... None of the data was wrong at the time it was created, but by being stuck in a queue for so long it's possible that it has been updated since - which isn't good if I've set it back...
I frantically cancelled as much of the data as I could and fessed up, but the client was very good about and in the end it was probably only a very small number of records that were impacted - and we have the details to put them right. Thankfully the most likely to be impacted was reset by a daily job which would have reset them anyway...
Note to self - fixing things isn't always the correct thing to do - sometimes you need to fix things in a more careful manner...
