Winter Bumblebee, Fife

If my ID is correct, this is a queen buff-tailed bumblebee, Bombus terrestris, on stinking hellebore, Helleborus foetidus.

I know that since the 1990s, this species of bumblebee has been nesting and active through the winter on the south coast of England. What I did not expect was to see one foraging on Feb 2nd in Fife, Scotland.  The max temperature reached today was 7°C (min last night was 4°C)

I had visited this site on Jan 1st for the New Year Plant Survey but the hellebore was only in bud at that time.  I went back today to photograph it in flower.  I was really surprised when a bee appeared in my viewfinder.  This was the only capture of it that I obtained as it flew off after emerging from the bloom.

I think maybe I should record this somewhere such as iRecord.  [Now done.]
