NZ Summer 2025

By AndrewNZ

Mono Monday, old.

The Mono Blip is my father's hat band from his time in the Royal Navy during WWII, in 1942 he was posted to HMS Tyne till 1944 then served on HMS Zest and HMZ Suffolk. The top hat band would have been worn while at sea so if you were rescued after being sunk the enemy would not know what ship you were on.
Sadly my Father died in 1965 at the age of 43 so I never got the chance to discuss this and many other thing with him.

The Extras
Hat bands in colour.
Three of the six RNZAF Hercules aircraft doing a farewell flyby heading into retirement new aircraft are already here to replace them. I was lucky to get this shot as I had forgotten they were due and the wrong settings and wrong lens on! DOH.

A warm pleasant day with a breeze 23c was seen.
