Little Boxes

My broadband and landline failed on Sunday 26th January. BT told me that it was because of a failure in their network. Eventually last Friday Openreach sent out a guy from Kelly Communications who confirmed that the fault was in the 'closed' local network which he was not able to access.

This morning an engineer from Openreach arrived unannounced and discovered the cause of the fault. A damaged wire only yards from our hub.

A few years ago, when MrQ was just about able to operate and cause lots of damage with his powerful wheeled strimmer, he cut through the phone wire in two places. (He also reduced the double glazing in a patio door to single glazing.) Two little black junction boxes were fitted.

Unbeknownst to all there must have been a third area of damage which at the time wasn't severe enough to affect the signal. The engineer found it behind the brickwork in my picture. This was built around the drain after the wire was damaged. We now have three little Openreach black boxes and the broadband is working fine. I have struggled without it this week. It has brought home to me how taking, editing and researching my pics, uploading them to blip and interacting with blippers is keeping me sane as MrQ's mental and physical health deteriorates and he becomes more difficult to care for.
