Land of the silver birch

The weather was cold and sunny so we went on another new walk out of the West Sussex walks book this afternoon.  This time it was to Iping and Stedham common, about 4 miles away but completely unknown to us. First through a nature reserve of heathland with silver birches and lots of criss crossing bridleways and then down very sandy paths to some woodland up through the fringes of a private estate alongside a plantation which had a flooded quarry alongside, hidden behind some undergrowth.  `Listened for some time to a bird foghorning which of course went silent when I opened the bird call app.

Bumped into my Pilates teacher walking her dogs but otherwise there were hardly any people up there.

We watched the glorious and subversive film Kneecap in the evening.  Really excellent
