Doom Bar
You can't really beat a pint of Doombar in the evening sunshine. The samphire is out in full force at the moment, so we picked some to go with our dinner. There were a few new boats moored up outside the pub; the one on the left was built in 1912- the same year as the Titanic.
My Mum came over for a Deli lunch- I think she's been having withdrawal symptoms as we've had a break over the last couple of weeks. She got the sad news this morning that one of her friends died. He had bowel cancer. It transpires that Mum's been helping them out much more than she'd previously told me. They live up the road and she's been helping when the wife has asked with getting him in to bed and arranging carers (many of the same ones who came for Dad). Jim had lots of the same symptoms as my Dad had in the latter stages of the illness, and I can't imagine how hard it must have been for Mum to be in that environment again. It must have brought back so many difficult and sad memories. I know it's hard when it feels like there is something you can do, but I wish Mum would put herself and her feelings first sometimes.
In other news, I went for a brilliant run this morning; 4 miles in an ok-ish time, but the main thing is that it's the first run in ages that I've ENJOYED! It was brilliant! I also finally got round to buying some new running trainers this afternoon. They're an amazing neon pink, but after wearing them round the flat this evening, I'm now thinking they might be too tight. I'm going to give them a short test-run in the morning but think annoyingly they might have to go back to be swapped.
