CRAZY HORSES!!
WOW - Never seen before. Today we went to Taunton Flower Show, hailed as the Chelsea of the West. It is the longest running flower show in the country, over 180 years.
We had this booked in our calendar since last year because it is always a spectacular show. Not a cheap day out, Mr A complaining half way through how much it had cost so far!! We hadn't planned to take Matthew, but after a call from his care home yesterday, we agreed to meet him at the gate at 11.00. We had the usual hiccup and waited, unsure as to which gate he would appear, but eventually the day got started.
We saw an amazing display by the Police Dog Handling team. A real police unit showing us how the dogs are taught through love and discipline to respond to commands which can save lives. All the dogs live with their controllers and you could see the respect each had for one another.
We also saw amazing motorcycle riding by the Jamie Squibb Freestyle display team. Terrific stunts above the trees, leaping off ramps, performing daredevil stunts before crash landing the other side and skidding to a halt.
But it was Jonathan Marshall and his Lusitano horse called Tulisa that for me was simply the best. Not only did he show us the amazing skills of his trained horse but also performed with 3 different falcons.
This blip was chosen especially for Mr Schorschi because I know he loves horses. This is no ordinary horse. It has performed in Merlin on BBC 1, starred with Russel Crowe in Robin Hood and has had many other starring roles. The Falcons were very well controlled, fighting off the numerous Herring Gulls that seem to have taken over Taunton, to perform to the crowds with incredible agility.
But as always, the day was spoilt by a heavy downpoor with thunder, as we all dived for cover and sheltered to escape the rain. It lasted for what seemed eternity before we all ventured out once again into blue skys.
We returned Matthew eventually but not before he had consumed after his lunch, a Cornish Pasty followed by a coffee and a slice of chocolate cake!!
The blip above shows the horse 'dancing' to some amazing Spanish music. It certainly got my feet going.
We finished off the day of course, with a large jug of Pimms, not in the garden but the shelter of the conservatory. Phoebe wasn't allowed to come with us instead spent the day with Harry a wonderful large Golden Retriever. Her best friend.
Sleep tight - hope your day has been good and that tomorrow brings only good things. Thankyou for visiting and taking part in my life, I do appreciate you all.
