Work begins
Training on a new interactive tool that I can use in my teaching this morning. It can do so much and has about a billion different settings. I just need to work out the best way to integrate a few examples in my courses.
Went for a walk with L at lunchtime. Work has now begun on a significant new building on campus. The old prewar prefabs were demolished last year and only the concrete bases remained. The new contractors will be on site for nearly 2 years building a flagship super energy efficient and sustainable European weather forecasting centre.
Had a close encounter with a pedestrian on my cycle home. The van to my right stopped to let him cross and hadn't realised that I was alongside in another lane and could not see the person. I managed to stop and didn't hit the pedestrian but did end up bum first on the wet road. Of course I landed on my achy hip. The pedestrian was very concerned for my welfare and I was so shaken up I realise now that I didn't check he was OK. I'm pretty sure we didn't actually collide so I'm hoping he was OK too.
Spin after work. The bikes at the gym are really badly maintained. The first one I tried didn't record at all, the second one only recorded a top speed of 54 rpm for the whole class and I know that my little legs were definitely working faster than that.
