An ordinary life....

Watching us watching you....

D and Adrian were up and out early to spend some time at the driving range.

Whilst they were gone I spent some time in the sunny kitchen painting in the watercolour sketch book that was part of my birthday gift from Agnes and Adrian.  Meanwhile Agnes sat in the swing seat in the sun room reading her book.  A very relaxing morning for us both.

D & A returned from the driving range having enjoyed their session.  Adrian used David's driver for a few of his shots and it was a revelation!  He is now looking to replace his driver asap and buy a whole new set of clubs (his set is twenty years old so definitely in need of updating.)  Adrian is joining the Spanish golf trip in September so I suspect he'll have new clubs by then.

After lunch the four of us headed to Arbroath.  I'd only been there once before and was about ten years old at the time so don't remember much.  In fact my only memory is visiting a fishmonger near the harbour to buy Arbroath Smokies.  We didn't do that today as I don't think the owner of the holiday cottage would be very happy with us bring Arbroath smokies into the cottage so close to the end of our stay!  I certainly wouldn't have appreciated arriving to a cottage that stank of smoked fish!  :-)

Arbroath is in a bit of turmoil as many of the roads in the centre of the town are closed.  It made for confusing attempts to get to the sea front.  We did pass the impressive Arbroath Abbey but didn't stop as the coast was our goal as we all fancied a wander along the sea wall. Eventually, after some doubling back on ourselves and getting a bit lost, we found our way to the sea.

We had a lovely wander along the sea wall.  Blue skies, sunshine and lack of a biting wind made it a very pleasant walk.  By the time we headed back to the car the sun was very low in the sky and had the makings of a lovely sunset.  I would have loved to hang around a little longer to get some shots of the sun as it dropped into the sea, but we all needed to pay a visit, so it was into the car and back to the cottage.

We had an hour to kill before getting ready to head out to the Drovers Inn near Forfar for dinner, so some book reading for Agnes and me, jigsaw for Adrian and forty winks for D.  Rock n roll lifestyle taking its toll!  hahahahaha!

Arrived at The Drovers Inn just before 7.00pm (blip shot taken on the way in) and spent a very pleasant evening eating the best food of the holiday so far.  If you are ever in the Forfar area, we cannot recommend this place highly enough.  The food was superb and Agnes was delighted with the vegetarian dishes on offer.  Reasonable prices too.  We left very full and very happy! :-)

Back to the cottage for our penultimate evening.  This week is going in far too fast!!!  Oh and the sky at the cottage this evening is amazing.  No light pollution so the stars are very bright. Magical :-)

Today would have been David's mum's 90th birthday!  Missed every day <3
