Gore Cottage, Bearsted Buildings No 1
Our walks around Bearsted take us past some lovely old buildings, full of history and interest, I've been meaning to start a series of shots but another shot has always got priority - until today. The text below comes from the British Historical Buildings website.
Gore Cottage is a late C15 timber framed house with brick infilling on ground floor, tile-hung on first floor, with plain tile roof. It was originally a 2-bay open hall with one storied bay at either end. The south elevation (ie, the one you can see) has stone plinth, jetty at the left end and hipped roof, with gablet at right end. The chimney stack is off-centre to left. There is a C20 lean-to at right end containing door. A single-storey, single-bay extension at right end, recessed from south elevation is probably C19 timber framed with an almost straight arch braces, brick infilling and plain tile roof.
Otherwise it was another very busy day, with a visit to the barber and shopping for me, followed by a little sport of bathroom and loo cleaning and cooking and ironing, clearning and watering for Susan. We were glad to enjoy a large glass of bacardi and lemonade before dinner - once I'd been to the supermarket to refresh supplies of ice.
