secret garden

A sunflower in February!

It is Friday isn't it?
A mammoth day here. Gorgeous weather and we beavered away at cleaning part 2 - Himself working on the other part of the conservatory and I accidentally opened the pantry to remove the recycling box and ended up doing the lot! Joe busy making cupboards and popping down to the tiny now and again to see how some blokes were getting on connecting the wood burner. Good it turns out.
We nipped off for a gorgeous swim at Tata Beach, which was rammed.
Back to Joe's, sneaky ice cream on the way, and Esme is back in residence, hot and steamy from a day at school. We had a very chilled time pottering in both gardens, picking plums and eating watermelon. She was in great form.
A bit about tiny homes, which are very popular in NZ. They really are very compact but are cheap(ish to build, pretty eco and don't need planning permission. They do have to be moveable though, hence the wheels Joe designed the shell (I'll try and find a link) which was made by a company over the Hill. He's now doing all the rest himself, a huge amount of work but it's going to be lovely. Not nearly as much room as he has at the moment, hence the clear out, but he's got solar heating, will have a compost loo etc and greatly reduce his bills. He won't have the hills to gaze out at ( they're behind a lot of trees) but he will have an amazingly lush and fecund oasis full of plum, avo, nectarine, peach, guava, passion fruit, pear and apple trees! Not bad. This is one of the many sunflowers at the entrance to his section.
A large glass of pinot is being enjoyed, girding our loins for sleepover number 2 and it's getting hotter!
