Flamborough Head
Thursday 6th February.
No internet at the Premier Inn as they are in the middle of changing their Internet provider.
A frosty start to the day but glorious sunshine and it soon warmed up which meant we had too many clothes on for our coastal walk from Flamborough Head. Still certainly not complaining!
First stop for a Yorkshire breakfast at The Pot Still Coffee Shop, Hunmanby, which overlooks the stills at the Spirit of Yorkshire Whisky Distillery.
Then to see the seals. Delighted to see so many in their usual cove at Flamborough Outer Headland.
In the sea, sunning themselves, playing and arguing.
You could hear the noise as we watched from the cliff top.
Nice to see a very excited party of young school children watching them too.
( must have been a nightmare for the teachers as it is a sheer drop from the cliff edge and no fence.)
Walking further along the coast path we heard another sound.
This time it was hundreds of guillemots out at sea and also clinging to the cliff face.
I’m sure they are early this year.
There were also gannets flying out at sea but didn’t see any of those on the cliffs.
Stopped off at Filey for a walk along the front, and a cream tea. Excellent scones and Rodda’s Cornish cream.
Spotted a group of swimmers. Although the sun was warmish I bet the sea was cold!
We finished the day off with fish snd chips at Salt restaurant overlooking the harbour.
We were so lucky with the weather, which made it a perfect day.
