Mardale Loop

Another big day out, this time from Mardale Head, a loop up over Ill Bell, High Street (Extra)  and descending via Rough Crag (in centre of the pano).
Tidied up our last Wainwright -  Ill Bell which we had missed by some metres a few years back in the clag. No clag today but biting cold in the windchill, must have been approaching -10C. Again fingers uncovered for a few seconds became useless.
At 2700ft High Street is the highest of the eastern fells. The "road" was built by the romans and the story goes that farmers used to race horses over it. No horses today, just the odd crow, a few hikers and two hardcore fell runners.
