Rehearsal at Old Cabell Hall - back blip

W. and I drove down to Charlottesville yesterday to have dinner with Isabelle and attend the Thursday evening rehearsal. The concert this weekend will feature a student composition called "Morning," a student tenor who'd won the annual concerto competition (for a singer I guess that would be called an aria instead?), and - the whole second half - selections from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. It was really fun to witness the rehearsal and the leadership of the guest conductor. I.'s beloved regular conductor had a death in the family. I have to say some of the music seemed to take on an added crazy dissonance in the context and angst of these days. But it sounded great.

We took down soup for I., who's recovering from a cold (the masked cellist, hard to see...) We weren't going to be able to make the concert, as our plans were to fly to Seattle on Sat. More on that in the next blip.
