Wooden ships

Actually wooden boats (and a metal ship). This weekend is the annual Australian Wooden Boat Festival. The harbour area was packed with people (and boats). Extras 1 and 2 show a foot powered wood turning demonstration and a collection of masts overshadowed by the stern of MS Queen Elizabeth which was in port today. After a good look around we headed to the Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery for a coffee and a browse of the exhibitions. In the main hall was a set of wooden (there's definitely a theme here) sculptures by Kevin Perkins which celebrated five of Richard Flanagan's novels (extra 3).
