Warming up
The fire in the sitting room caught rather well. The logs are pretty dry and we have some split pieces of tarry pine as fire-lighters. Previously, we had been rather dependent on birch bark. It’s pretty chilly outside and I haven’t been outside at all today.
Termix and Novik spent most of the day indoors, Novik close to the fire.
I made some bean soup from the beans I put to soak yesterday, simple but quite OK. Later, D made some pancakes, some of which we had with the fresh marmalade and some orange liqueur I made a while ago.
Finally we got round to watching ‘The Green Book’, which was a present from MF. We would have watched it earlier but some minor upheaval was necessary to put the screen and the old laptop in a suitable place. It’s an excellent film and it’s so sad to see the world return to those dark times.
D is half way through her second ball of wool. The knitting paraphernalia was a highly economic present which she has persisted with and soon we will have a large grey scarf.
