Campaign celebration

For over 30 years, the local communities of Dunblane and Bridge of Allan have fought to preserve the Greenbelt between the two towns.

This morning, our campaigning group RAGE  held a coffee morning to thank supporters after the latest developer formally withdrew his application.

Over the years we have taken a succession of landowners through three Public Inquiries as they sort permission to build  luxury houses on this iconic landscape, a gateway to Highlands.

The last one was fronted by Judy Murray, mother of tennis star Andy Murray . She  wanted to build a legacy for him with a tennis centre .
In reality she was used as a Trojan horse to try and push through a controversial planning application, a fact that was teased out in the Public Inquiry , much to the astonishment of everyone when she admitted  under cross examination that she had only an informal arrangement with the developers. There was nothing in writing.

Our local Green MSP, Mark Ruskell, (centre photo) ,has given us invaluable  support over the years and he congratulated us  on our success but urged us to be vigilant if we want to protect the land for future generations suggesting we look at setting up some kind of a trust.
