Late evening drama on our street

First I saw the flashing blue lights of the emergency services, then looked opposite at one of our neighbours houses to see a chimney fire going full blaze.

The fire fighters worked inside the house for a good 30 minutes then eventually a ladder was put up to the chimney to spray water down it.

The moment the water went in the chimney and an explosion of smoke and steam flew out.

20 minutes later the crew were packing up.

Scary scene and you can see why it's so important to maintain your fire places and have your chimney swept regularly. 

Meanwhile about 3 miles down the road at the same time there was a huge industrial unit fire  taking place with about 10 fire engines at the scene.
