11:59 pm, i swear
it isn't so much that i've become anal about trying to get a picture a day -- that really isn't the point. but 91 straight blips so far is respectable and this summer i have found time to spare, so there is virtually no excuse not to snap a picture a day, at least through summer. i've already decided that i'll stop the moment this whole thing becomes unamusing, but i haven't even gotten close to bored.
that being said, last night i walked into a dark bedroom with my sleeping wife and child before realizing that no picture had yet been taken. glancing at the clock revealed the time to be 11:59 pm. i moved quickly to open my camera bag, grab my camera, turn it on, remove the lens cap, zoom - of course i had leave the zoom lock on - finally, unlocked, zoomed to frame the digital clock on the VCR which happened to be the only object in the room giving off light other than the TV. luckily the clock was still at 11:59 pm after all that rummaging around - i pressed the shutter release. it was at that instant that the clock switched to 12:00 am.
i know what you are thinking. surely the picture will provide the evidence - was it at 11:59 or 12:00? honestly, the picture shows that i may have missed it. but why not (i won't swear here, for the sensitive types), i'm giving myself an A for effort, so i'm counting it - but you be the judge.
