Another snow day
The snow that was forecast started and ended just as The Weather Network said it would. It started around 5 am and ended by 4 pm. And the 5 - 10 cm was correct too. We had closer to 10 than 5 though. We canceled brunch today, a few people said they would not be there even before I sent the email.
I did my usual Sunday chores, laundry, watering plants, sweeping the floors. I also worked on my jigsaw puzzle. I bought a new printer yesterday and now have it hooked up, it will work on both my laptop and my desktop computer, although I had to take the USB cord off the old printer because even though the new printer is supposed to be able to connect via wifi, it would not work that way.
I shoveled my side of the driveway and cleaned off the truck this afternoon. The landlord came home this afternoon and she actually shoveled some on her side of the driveway. I sent her a message later this afternoon saying that it is getting difficult for me to clean off my truck because of the buildup of ice between the vehicles. Also that it is difficult for me to get to the green bin to empty kitchen waste, because her roommate does not keep the pathway to the back door shoveled. She just walks thru the snow, then it rains and freezes and now there is a 3 inch thick layer of ice with foot prints in it. My boots are bigger than hers, so I can't even walk in her footprints. The landlord says she is going to buy several bags of salt on her way home in the morning and put that down in the driveway to try and melt some of the ice. My truck and her roommates car will be gone tomorrow morning, so that will be a good time to do it.
They plowed the street and put some salt down early this morning. Then they plowed again in both directions around 3 pm. They were spreading salt too, so the street is mostly bare now. One car did have to turn around on the hill this afternoon before it was plowed. He got about half way up and wasn't going fast enough to make it to the top. When you start at the bottom, you have to keep a steady pressure on the gas, don't slow down, and pray that no one is coming down the hill while you are going up.
