Water, for those of
us on the desert, is a
key commodity

It's been another slow morning for me. It was slow-rising....slow coffee over slow email.....by the time I decided I should go for a haircut, it was noon.

On my way across S Fortuna Road I took note of the water dispenser. These are at various locations around the Foothills. Those who want salt-free water have this available. These dispensers have existed here for more than 30 years. We used one years ago when trekking through this area with a travel trailer.

My wee house in the Foothills is serviced for water by the Foothills Utility Company. I know the water source is the Colorado River. I have the luxury of turning on my kitchen tap for most water usage. For drinking water I have a reverse osmosis system using these big black tanks at my backdoor. They connect to a separate tap on the kitchen sink.

I got curious about the quality of my water so I began a bit of an internet search. I see that our water meets government standards, whatever they are, but has a number of contaminates that should be removed by my water system. (e.g. arsenic) I am concerned that government standards be maintained, but do I trust that? We are in uncertain times here.

I pack bottled water when I am away from the house. I refill my containers so I am not disposing of plastic bottles constantly.

I'm off for a haircut at 3. It will keep me moving this afternoon.
