Glossy Ibis #24
Inspired and encouraged by villan's post yesterday, we hopped over the border into Wales this morning in search of the Glossy Ibis. When we arrived there were already 4 photographers there so we crept up quietly, but we needn't have bothered as it wasn't in the least bit interested in us!
For a few minutes we had excellent views from the path with it being just a few metres away and then is started digging around in the reeds at the back for a while before finally flying off across the main road. A lovely encounter even if the light was absolutely shocking!
Whilst we were there in the area, we drove the few minutes to the coast at Horton's Nose near Rhyl to see if we could locate the female Black Redstart. After about 10 minutes of searching we'd both had enough, were cold and needed a drink so headed back to cafe. On the way back we had another look in the enclosure and there she was (extra). Not as spectacular as her male counterpart on the Great Orme, but pretty all the same. A successful couple of hours.
