The Little Gyre
As opposed to the Great Gyre “island of rubbish” circulating in the Pacific Ocean.
Yesterday’s rain brought loads of foam and detritus down the River Len where it was trapped by the supports of a bridge. It makes you wonder what causes the foam?
It wasn’t so atrocious today. Just pretty poor. No rain at least. Bitterly cold and grey with a thick blanket of low cloud and mist. We’re going to have to put up with this until Friday.
The gyre was spotted on our walk in Mote Park on our way to Tescos. I’m inclined to select my own vegetables in store rather than rely on the online shopper picks. Maybe after 25 years of home delivery it’s time for a change?
This evening we went to the bi-monthly People, Planet, Pint initiative hosted by BearstedCAN where lots of people of the older persuasion meet to talk about all manner of environmental issues. I understand that in the cities a much younger demographic attend these events. There’s some hope then.
