Cooking…
… For tomorrow’s visitors. They’re veggie too, which is an absolute treat for me. (I can never be bothered to do two nice mains when carnivores come. So we usually have mundane stuff, unless I’m unusually creative on the ‘sides’ front).
This, soon to be ragu, is now all chopped up and in the oven, awaiting its next phase (the addition of lentils, pearl barley, red wine, coconut cream and stock!).
I haven’t decided yet whether it will be part of a shepherd’s pie or a pasta dish. It’s versatile and will do either, probably both, because it makes a shedload. (It’s an Ottolenghi recipe I use often).
Puds next!
A photo of the mayhem I created would probably be more entertaining!
(Nah. You can imagine).
In other news, which shouldn’t really be discussed on the same page as food, the Eldest Elderly has been diagnosed with cellulitis. This is not good news but we’ve been here before… The determination to reach one hundred remains undiminished. Bless.
But, I’m going to struggle to get there, unless I cancel the annual visit from family.
(One day at a time I think).
