New Fence
Possibly the dullest blip you'll see today but for my own records here's the new fence. It isn't finished yet but the chap who is doing the work has a fishing competition today. He'll be back tomorrow to complete the double side.
This fence replaces the original stone wall at the end of our garden and the gardens either side. About 25 years ago, before eight am one Saturday morning, we were awakened by a Council officer serving a dangerous buildings warrant on the wall. That man loved his wee bit of power. After some fruitless discussion with threats of legal action and so on we put heras fencing across the bottom third of the garden. As did our neighbours on both sides. There it remained for about 18 months till we were able to get the wall safely removed and the 6' stockade put in its place. It was a protracted business because on the other side of the wall is a block of flats in multiple ownership. It was a tricky time and the fence is nowhere near as attractive as the wall. But it isn't a designated dangerous building.
Anyway the original fence was badly damaged in Storm Eowyn and had to be dismantled. We are lucky that a local guy was able to do the work quite quickly and efficiently. In the summer the tall plants I grow hide the fence but at this time of year it's pretty visible.
Enough of that. As I say, very dull.
No Thursday yoga because it's half term here and the teacher is away with her school aged children. Two friends are coming through from Edinburgh. I'll jump on their train when it gets to Stirling and we'll go to Dunblane for a wander and some lunch. Looking forward to that.
Before then I'm hoping that the plumber is going to arrive to look at the leaky pipe. He's an hour late already.
