Flooding

The roofers completed the work on the roof yesterday, but had to return today because they did not replace a drainpipe they had removed. They also left the garden furniture in the garden not on the balcony; everything has now been returned to its proper place.

Anglian Water have been very helpful and hopefully will be able to repair all the pipe work today. They are pumping the water in the lane and various places into tankers and taking it away. There is much concern over the environment. The flooding has also drained down my drive, but fortunately did not come in the house, but went in to the French drain, as it should do.

The road outside has been closed today although fortunately I can get out of my drive although with about a dozen lorries and vans are parked all over the place it was difficult. My husband’s dental appointment was able to go ahead and we had lunch while we were out.

The pipes have not been replaced or damaged since I have lived here almost forty years ago. However, the land at the end of my lane has been purchased. The new owners are flattening it and so heavy vehicles, some weighing over forty tonnes, have been up and down the lane; in my opinion they have caused the problem.

Today’s picture is the view that greeted me this morning when I opened the bedroom curtains. It was already going down before I took any pictures.

The temperature today at noon was six degrees Celsius.
