Gone in a Flash
I seem to have been going non-stop since getting up this morning! I needed to reply to an email query about a brass plaque I’m arranging which will eventually go on the memorial wall in the churchyard. It’s really important to double check with the person ordering it in memory of their loved one, to make sure everything is correct. After sending off the email, I rushed to church for Thursday communion and only made it with five minutes to spare.
As we were leaving St Luke’s, I took my only photo of the day of the beautiful floral arrangement displayed on top of the font. The flowers are a tribute to our friend Roger, whose funeral took place last Thursday, from his wife Daphne. It’s so cold in the church that they’re still looking quite fresh. We had our usual noisy coffee over the road afterwards, but I had to hurry up with my latte and toasted tea cake in order to drive over to the Colchester Odeon for 12.15pm. I had booked for a third and final viewing of the “Becoming Led Zeppelin” documentary film before its short UK run comes to an end. I parked in the multi-storey and walked past the shops to the cinema, arriving with ten minutes left to go to the loo before settling down in my comfy Premier+ seat for the next couple of hours. You will have gathered by now that I am a true Led Zep nut, and enjoyed it just as much today as I did the first two times. However, after the excitement of meeting the film’s director at the IMAX preview last Wednesday and the thrill of watching (and hearing) it on Sunday in the very room where the band had recorded their albums, it was a bit of a comedown to see it on a smaller screen in a bog-standard local complex. Now I’ll have to wait and hope it will be released on DVD at some point.
I got home at about 3.30pm, to find a letter on the doormat addressed to someone I don’t know at my own address. It was a final warning about a parking fine, so I had to waste time phoning the legal firm who sent it to get them to remove my address from their database. After that I spent over an hour on the phone to BT sorting out the switchover from having a landline phone to a WiFi hub phone. Their choice, forced upon me. I won’t go into all the complicated shenanigans here - suffice to say that nothing these days is ever straightforward!!
So that’s my whole day gone in a flash. Now to relax for the evening…
