Wo die Blumen sind

A birthday cycle

Today at breakfast my chair had been decorated and I received a song and many lovely presents for my 55th birthday. It was a wonderful start of the day, followed by a lovely lunch with my cousin in the garden, and then I set off on the cycle trip back to the station where I'd hired the bicycle the day before. It's a great system, the railway bicycles. You can actually deliver them back to a different station for a small fee, but i'd set my mind on doing a full circle. Little did I know that I'd be cycling 90 km's (on a bike without gears) that day! It was a beautiful ride in warm but not scorching weather around the rivers IJssel and Rhine, and the dutch hills around Arnhem really honoured their name. Finally I arrived home about midnight. A glorious day.
