Grumpy Old Man

A beautiful shrub

More dull, chilly weather. I haven't been off the property today in spite of feeling the need to go out for a walk or do some gardening. I was expecting the gas man to come this morning to service the boiler, but he texted to say he couldn't make it.

Spent the day on indoor stuff, writing a piece for the u3a Creative Writing Group, dealing with some Photo Club things and going through huge numbers of Arduaine Garden Photographs.

Since meeting the new Arduaine Head Gardener I got to thinking about the thousands of garden pictures I have on the computer (to say nothing of the pre-digital slides up in the loft!) and began to copy them all to a separate folder. I haven't finished yet - just the first 2,000. I'll need to go through them all and keep the best ones - probably get rid of half of them - and then decide what to do with them, or what the new HG wants to do with them.

Took the camera out on to the garden slope to try to find something worth Blipping. This is one of my favourite shrubs which I think should be grown more - it's quite hardy even though it looks like a house plant. It's Schefflera rhododendrifolia, from various parts of the Himalayas. It will make a large shrub or small tree.
