Some say less is more

But that Geddy Lee bloke, who is no stranger to finding a new project and going hell for leather with it, always said with Rush, "more is more".

And given that his autobiography tips the scales at over 500 pages, more is definitely more. What an amazing read. Contrast with Mr Business, Bruce Dickinson, whose autobiog was almost all about his work with Iron Maiden and nothing about his family – which was intentional, privacy and all that – Ged's is very much about the man himself, goofy, nerdy and humble to the last

I did make a start on the webbing and fire hose project, with my hot knife and some cardboard templates but realised that I will need some more fabric before I can go pressing the sewing machine's loud pedal. Having to go dead canny like with my ribs is wearing pretty thin now, otherwise I would have scooted out to the shops to see what they had. It's all very well if you want to buy twenty different kinds of carpet or a new mattress or a pair of trainers, or some overpriced windscreen wipers and a can of oil, but where's the haberdashery these days? In town, that's where. But I have an office day coming up this week so that's perhaps my best option.
