Times gone by

I'd gone out for the day by train, a particular trip I do several times a year, and whilst the journey north , with just the one change at Preston, had gone very smoothly, the journey home involved changing trains at Blackburn, Bolton, and Manchester Piccadilly, and trains that were fuller than usual as the lines were closed between Preston and Wigan due to overhead line damage. (Still causing delays as I write this now I'm home again.)

Bolton is a station I've rarely been to since my days in teacher training, 40 or so years ago, when I had a college friend who lived there. I'd certainly never seen these "Ladies 1st and 2nd Class Waiting Room" windows before. There's a Gentlemen's equivalent, but I didn't go back and get the picture, as a late running connection (a train which should have left before I arrived, if you get my meaning) resulted in me not having time to do more than hurriedly catch this picture - which I may never get a change to get again.
