Life is a Challenge!

CAN'T WAIT TO USE...

...these cleaning cloths, otherwise known to me as dusters!  I had a text early this morning to say that a parcel would be delivered between 8.27 and 11.27 - amazing how the Post Office is so precise (!) from some friends in Switzerland.  I was intrigued as it wasn’t my birthday, but at 9.19 a.m. the package was duly delivered.

When I opened it, there was a lovely card from our friends, a small brochure from Schiess Reinigungen AND these wonderful cleaning cloths.  Who knew that receiving four coloured cleaning cloths would make me so excited?

There is a story behind this - when we visited our Swiss friends in their home way back in 2012, their two wonderful cleaning ladies, who aren’t Swiss, but who spoke Swiss/German, as did our friends, came in several times to do their work whilst we were there.  We couldn’t speak their language, and they couldn’t speak English, but we always made sure we communicated with them somehow and there was always lots of laughter and fun.

When we came back home, they gifted us some of these cleaning cloths, or dusters, together with some special cleaning products, and I have enjoyed using them but have never found any over here that are comparable.

Every Christmas since 2012, we have sent Christmas cards to our friends and one each to their cleaning ladies - and they have always sent one back to us via our friends.  Today I was thrilled to receive these cleaning cloths and I note on the brochure that came with them that it says, in German, but I have translated it : “Would you like a spring cleaning or a special cleaning?”  The answer is most definitely “YES”!  But until these two lovely ladies come and visit for that spring cleaning, guess I will just use these cloths and think of them!

So, Vielen Dank!  Thank you SO MUCH, Ladies - you really have brought me lots of joy by sending these - please feel free to come to visit us - then you can show me how to use these wonderful cloths!  Until then, I guess I will have to do my own "Domestic Goddessing!"  We send our love to you all - and look forward to meeting you again sometime.  M & J xxx

P.S.  You will be pleased to know we are both being sensible after our two procedures - Mr. HCB is jigsawing at the moment, as although the sun is shining, it is still quite cold and even working in the greenhouse didn’t seem like a good idea, because of the risk of infection.  My eye also seems to be doing well - I slept most of yesterday and all night, for which I am so grateful, and I’m sure will help the healing process.  Many thanks to all of you for your kind comments in the last few days - I will get back to commenting as soon as I can.
