Whitetail
This young deer was really stressed about something in the woods behind the house and he/she had its tail fluffed out in warning to the other young deer that was with it. It stood there for a few seconds (long enough for me to get the camera!) and then jumped into a ran as I snapped the photo. We rarely get to see them with the tail "feathers" spread out so much. Usually just the lifted up tail.
I was lucky it wasn't a big blur as it was so fast! They did not go far but stayed behind a tree. What they heard is in the extras. Notice the one deer as red spots on his head where the antlers have been shed. The other is the one horned buck that we have seen before. He will probably lose his antlers in the next week or so.
I also saw a couple lizards sunning on the log ledge. I have never seen two so close together. I wonder if this is a mom and youngster.
I do love watching the critters in my yard.
Have a good week, blippers!
