Tucking in.

First day back for the minister at church today after a 3 month sabbatical and it was good to see him back and refreshed. Theme for this month's services is 'work' and I guess that means looking at the whole world of work from a Christian perspective. So today we started with 'rest'.

Someone asked 'do we work to live or live to work?' A question well worth answering for ourselves individually. However the thing that struck me is the fact that, if you take the Genesis account of creation, as a guide, after mankind were created and given their mission of looking after the world, the very first thing they had to do (ie the next day!) was take a day off to rest.

I don't think I had ever seen that before. So often we take a day of rest as a day to recover from the week that has just gone - it seems to me it was intended more as a day of preparation for what was to come!

Anyway, pondering aside, we followed the service with a 'bring-and-share' lunch, and great it was too! So here is just a sneaky peek along one of the tables, hopefully without giving away too much of who ate what!
