The Pensioner

By Pensioner

A momentous day

Having managed for many years, in many different localities, to endure the persistent winds in the Canaries, I did something I’ve never done before. I went and bought those big pegs, or clavijas grandes, that prevent your towel from flapping free of your sun lounger. Although I ought to feel smug, I feel strangely diminished.
Anyway, before my diminution we’d taken a walk down to the marina and past the bars and cafes on the waterfront. All rather pleasant.
Back to lounge and read, smugly, on my towel. My very large towel.
