Naval Service Memorial
Today we visited the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. A very peaceful and beautifully maintained place, with individual memorials to each of the branches of the armed forces as well as to civilian organisations (or groups of civilians) who have contributed to the defence of the UK. There are over 400 memorials and some 25,000 trees in the 150 acre site.
I found it peaceful and enjoyable, but also somewhat depressing, given that wars still continue and humankind has not learned their futility and unnecessary devastation and loss of life.
