Out and About
I actually got out of the house today, which is always a good plan when Sherri, my cleaner comes; I save up my errands just for that purpose - to leave her to her work.
I had planned out my route...drop off clutter at the Thrift Store, drop off a library book at the library, and then pick up prescriptions..Fun wow...but I made sure that I had time to check out what was happening down at the harbour. I needed a blip.
There were not many people wandering about down there due to the cold, just some folks sitting in their cars enjoying the scenery .. which pretty much amounted to birds - ducks on ice, geese huddled in the water next to ice, and gulls being fed by this fellow who regularly shows up with a bag of seed! (extra) Oh yes, and a couple of photographers, including moi, taking photos of said birds!
Before returning home I stopped off at our local museum gift shop, which is just around the corner, to browse in search of future gifts. I am always in a panic at the last minute, not prepared for birthdays and Christmas etc...best to get a head start.
Well, I was delighted to see that one vendor had come up with a really neat way to use broken china! Now, I have broken a lot of china over the years - primarily when I was doing mosaics and actually broke some on purpose - but I had never thought of making jewellery out of it! (extra)
I know that broken china earrings would not appeal to everyone, but to me? Fab! But who else do I know who loves antique china? Alas, no-one comes to mind...Aha..but my sister does! She has a collection almost as huge as mine! Eureka! Birthday present solved!
My Out and About Day reminded me that walking is still bit dicey. Great care is required, as there are a lot of icy sidewalks and stairs out there. Oh, and obviously outdoor lunches at the library cafe are on hold for the moment! :)) ( extra)
