Amed - day out
I had an awful night's non sleep. Difficult to know exactly why but being too hot didn't help, no sheet just a 'summer weight' duvet, too much for here. I eventually profited from the VPN and listened to a Mindful Mix, that put me to sleep.
After breakfast I had a walk along to Jemeluk Bay. Google said it would take 15 mins, too 8! I then walked the other way and talked to one of the tour sellers and decided to go out, while the sun shone
First stop was Lempuyang Temple and the Gate of Heaven. Again a hurl up the hill in an electric vehicle (and back down again this time), then a walk up a steep hill. The ticket price included a photo at the Gate of Heaven. My ticket indicated a 2 hour wait so I had the staged mirror photo instead. Climbed up the top of the temple where there was a great view and then it started to rain!
Next stop was the Water Palace, Tirta Gangga. Luckily the rain had stopped. It's a relatively new development, very Italianate with water features and a lot of carp and a lot of women in floaty dresses. Not me!
Over the road for lunch overlooking a farm. It was ok, slightly cold then to be the inevitable coffee plantation. Bought dinner tea for me and #1 son, ginger and lemongrass. There's was supposed to be a visit to a farm in the valley (could have lunch there) but I demurred and it was back to Amed. Just as well as the thunderstorm started with a vengeance, a lot of flooding in the road.
Sorry rest of day reading, swimming in sea and pool in the rain, talking to new neighbours, Aussie and Dutch, and finally walking along the beach and the road to a beach bar with lights on.for dinner. HD a taco bowl, without the tacos
Booked snorkelling for tomorrow but forecast not good. Apparently very sunny and hot in Sanur.
