The highest point on the Wall
This is the trig point on Winshields Crags. It is the highest point on Hadrian's Wall Trail. There are steep crags for the north, so the Romans did not have to dig a ditch here.
The forecast was good so I set out to take some landscape images near to Steel Rigg. The car park was already filling up before 10am, but it suddenly rained heavily. I sat in the car for 20 minutes, wondering where I had put the umbrella that should have been there!
It was much colder than I had anticipated and the wind (from the west) was unpleasant but bracing.
I walked into the wind up to this trig point then came back down again.
The light kept changing and there were some dramatic clouds in the sky.
I've been editing photos all afternoon so now it is time to stop.
