It ...............

 ............. was a pointy, slightly overgrown bay laurel (inset) - now it's not.

Nathan the Gardener (not Nathan the Electrician) was here today with his hedge cutter and went right along the back fence tidying up the big bushes.

In other news - following on from six different presentations over this past week, from six different companies/salesmen/engineers, we have decided on a stairlift company and have paid the deposit to have one fitted. 
I (and my bank balance) are weeping!!!   We'll be weeping even more when we have to pay the balance in a couple of weeks but Himself will no longer have to go upstairs on all fours or have to "wobble" down the stairs each day, so worth every penny.

We didn't pick the cheapest on offer (or the most expensive - quite) but the one that is, hopefully, slightly more future-proof for his needs, now and later, also with slightly more capabilities (the lift, not his!!).

Anyhoo - it's now sorted out and we look forward to him gliding up and down very soon - AND I can also use it for suitcases for holidays - no more bumping them up and down a step at a time!  Yay.
