MATCHDAY

Newcastle had a home game this afternoon - 2pm kick off - against Nottingham Forrest.  I got  to town early and popped into Savers for a couple of things before heading for the ground.  

On my way I passed The Maldron Hotel and saw that their windows had some footie related artwork.  Newcastle are in the final of the Carabao Cup and lots of shops and other buildings are marking the occasion with artwork etc.  The right hand window  has the wording " Tell Me Ma....Me Ma!. " This is part of the chant which goes like this........

" Tell Me Ma Me Ma! We won’t be home for tea. We’re going to Wem-Ber-Lee   tell me Ma me Ma"

There were long queues at the turnstiles.  This seems to be the norm now.

The game started badly for Newcastle as Notts Forrest scored after only 6 mins.  BUT Newcastle managed to score 4 goals in the first half. Score at half time 4 - 1.  Of course the home crowd were expecting more goals from Newcastle in the second half. But it didn't happen. It was rather stressful as Notts Forrest were playing better and looked far more likely to score.  And they did... they got two more goals to make the final score Newcastle 4  Notts Forrest  3. Three points for Newcastle which is good .... but its worrying that they didn't play well in the second half and let Notts Forrest get back into the game.  Ive added an Extra of the big flag that was displayed in the Gallowgate stand.

Before getting my bus home I went to Tesco for some food shopping.  My bus came on time and it wasn't too full.

The weather today was a lot worse than yesterday.  It was cold, windy and rainy.
