The Third Island
We are off to Stewart Island today - south of the NZ South Island.
A few jobs to do before driving down to the ferry - and added another job as we discovered we had a flat tyre. So a quick wheel changed, hampered by not being able to find the jack, so had to borrow one. And then a whizz in to Invers to a garage who were very helpful. A shopping trip and still just time for coffee. And then down to Bluff for the ferry. So lucky to have a beautiful calm, blue sky day for a stunning journey with sooty shear waters flying along side us.
Arriving in Oban (!), we hunted for the car which had been left by our house owner. Finally found it after a phone call - she’d left it somewhere else! Not a good start but she was forgiven when we got to the house on Butterfield Beach. Fabulous location, just across the road from the sandy beach and bay of boats. And gorgeous house too - I am loving Home Exchange!!
The picture is our evening stroll - just after a couple of Kaka birds (large parrots), paid a visit to the house looking for something to eat.
