My heart is breaking

My heart breaks for Ukraine, a country that despite all odds has proudly stood up to the vilest of dictators — a weasel so small in stature and morality that he has to resort to poisoning his foes.

Ukraine has lost an entire generation of young men fighting back the Russian evil and power grab. Families lost fathers, mothers, siblings. Yet they never ever gave up. There is more humanity, honor and grace in the lowliest Ukrainian foot soldier than there are in those pretending to be kings or rulers or elected sitting officials.

Its president should serve as a role model to anyone who is looking at defining what leadership means and how it plays out in dire circumstances.

I pray (and I’m not even a person of faith..) that the country and its people are rewarded for their fortitude and tenacity and emerge from this with some semblance of normalcy. And I pray equally hard that the tyrants, cowards, and dictators that brought this about get their comeuppance and then some. There will be a special place in hell for them.

On a side note, I am proud of France: our president actually grabbed Trump’s arm to correct him to his face about the lies he was telling about Ukraine and the Eiffel Tower tonite wears the Ukrainian colors :)
