I was stopped in my tracks by this stunning butterfly. I've never seen one of these here before, and this is a perfect specimen.

I went to Saint Laurent to get my hair cut. This only takes 20 minutes, and it seemed like a good opportunity to vary my daily walk and try something new. So I googled walks nearby and found a reasonably short one that I've never done before. Unfortunately the site I found it on was rather imprecise and I did a fair amount of doubling back to find the right track. It was not particularly picturesque, and there was some unexpected scrambling (hands required). The main feature of it was the derelict pumping station that formerly supplied Saint Laurent with water. It was definitely not blipworthy, so I was pleased to spot this butterfly on the way back. Stats: 2.5 km, 50 m climbing, 1 hour. Doesn't sound that arduous (it felt longer), but when I got home I sat down, drank a cup of tea, then dozed off on the sofa and missed my yoga class! Oh well, I got my steps in.

Back home, once awake, I read my book and then lit the fire for a nice cosy evening in. I hope the pleasant spring weather will continue because we only have about two days' worth of wood left.
