STOP in the Name of Love
We had another mild day and I took my bicycle out to zip around the neighborhood. Above is a shot of my bike by a stop sign that's located a few roads away from our house, not far from Stonerow. There is a lane that goes back to the right, into those woods, that I sometimes take.
However, on this day, the lane was complete and total ice, slicked down even further by about an inch of rain and melt water on top of it. That's a definite no-go, my friends! So here we are, STOPPED, in the name of love. Or ice. Or good sense. Or something.
This photo was taken in portrait mode, and when I do that, I never know if I'm going to be able to see it or not. My camera, a Canon PowerShot SX 60, just started doing something strange.
I first had trouble with it on Feb. 7 and 8. It was giving me some difficulties when I was trying to photograph those llamas. My very first shot went blank on me and it totally flipped me out. All around me: llamas, llamas, llamas. In the viewfinder: nothing, nothing, nothing!
I have it set up so that I view my image on a screen on the back of the camera; I do not use the viewfinder itself. When I turn the camera from landscape (wide and flat) mode to portrait (tall and skinny) mode, sometimes the screen goes black and I don't see a darn thing!
I've looked it up, and the possibilities include my having accidentally changed some setting related to an LCD or EVF (electronic view finder) switch, which I can't even FIND. Do I even have one?
It's also possible that something has come loose in one of the connections to the display panel on the back of the camera. The camera has seen hard, heavy wear, as you may have already guessed, based on my stories.
So anyway, if you have one of these cameras, and you have some ideas, send me a note. It doesn't always go dark when I tilt the camera into portrait mode, only sometimes.
But I've learned that even when I can't see it, I can sort of guesstimate what I'm getting, and so I take the picture anyway. (Remind anyone ELSE of the 1991 film Proof, about the blind photographer?) A true point-and-shoot camera! What the heck!
Here's the song you just KNEW I'd be using for this! The Supremes, with Stop in the Name of Love.
