Familiar territory
Woke up to a sharp frost this morning, but the day blossomed into a beautiful last day of February, promising that spring is not far away.
Met a friend A at the Walkin Cafe at Deepdale, where we chatted for a couple of hours. I worked with A for many years at BT, and she still does. Or at least for a few more weeks. She’s been on the Openreach side of things for a while now and has decided to take advantage of the current round of voluntary redundancy, just a couple of years shy of 50 years with them.
(I took redundancy in one of the first rounds in 1993)
Then this afternoon/evening spent time with Greg and had a relaxed few hours with him.
My image was taken while waiting for A to arrive. It’s an area I know well and actually G, the owner of the cafe was there, so I chatted to her. Plus another person who used to visit her Mum in the same care home my Mum was at, she was there at the cafe too, so the day has just flown by again.
For those that don’t know, this is the Sandy Heath Transmitter. Iconic around these parts and for many years gave us excellent TV reception in Old Warden. It’s just a year younger than me, built in 1965, is 801ft high and now broadcasts local radio stations and digital television.
