Black & White
A whole day looking after Minky on my tod as the SK is still away. We fixed the fence, made prawny omelette and went oif to watch a double bill - Nipper, and The Snail & the Whale. And I didn’t fall asleep. A drop off, chat with the daughter and listen to small boy’s developing word skills before heading up town. Footy!
St Mirren in town, and if we can beat ‘em we go top six (how important that is!). No easy task given they’d just scalped Rangers. From 0-1 down we gradually hauled ourselves level and then ahead. Class will out. Gawd, they’d a bunch of cloggers. But VAR… honestly, that was surely the worst ever fan experience ever. Everyone on the park (officials, fans, players) accepted the first two Hearts goals - and each time we were held up after celebrating by a VAR intervention. Now VAR should only have got involved if there was a clear and obvious error in the officials' judgement, correct? Having held up play for three minutes (booo jeer whistling etc) VAR decided the on-field decisions were actually OK - so there wasn’t anything clear and obvious. I mean, eh?
Anyway, we got a third; that was flagged as offside and VAR then ruled it was OK. That’s what VAR’s for. No, not just giving us goals.
