Carnaval preparations

The main parade starts at 20.00. I’ve watched it nearly every time my weeks have coincided with the event. The atmosphere is amazing, the troupes splendid and everyone gets into the spirit.

I headed down the steep slope at around 18.00.  Lots of performers were assembling, most of them in full regalia. The weather’s a bit iffy. Not quite raining.

The fun has started. Everyone is delighted to pose for a photo. We have the daylight and the anticipation, even though we don’t have the rhythms, the bands, and the crazy crowds. 

It was lovely to be there as the excitement was growing, and I managed the steep drag back to my room. 

I will be watching on tv this time.

I’ve added a few extras, including one of the troupe  from the hotel’s Carnival Dinner yesterday evening. They were amazing (including the dog).
